I changed the oil in my car. As I start to drive away, I felt like getting into a routine that was not there before the oil change. It doesn’t vibrate. It vibrates for a second, stops, vibrates again, etc.
I noticed from the oil level that the level was a little higher than normal. The percentage has never been this level since the oil change. The oil level on the dipstick was slightly above normal. It was between the top of the marks (full) and the upper wheel of the dipstick. I called ford and they said the level was acceptable.
Car Engine oil can be though of as three simple steps. However, a small mistake can cause serious damage to the engine and experiencing vibration can be a warning sign.
Reasons Car Shaking After Oil Change
Cars often suffer from wheel and tire problems, wearing parts etc. Shakes or vibrates due to damaged brakes or a faulty engine and transmission can also cause the vehicle to vibrate while driving.
I have discussed the most common causes of vibration in the car after changing.
- Low Oil level
- Oil spills
- Low Quality Engine oil
- High oil Engine Level
- Installing the Oil filter
Low Oil Level
Low oil level can also cause your vehicle to stall after an oil change. If the oil level is below the maximum mark, the oil level is low. Therefore, oil can stop the car’s engine parts from being lubricated causing metal to rub against each other and resulting in vibration.
To fix the problem, add engine oil but do not exceed the maximum mark on the dipstick.
Oil Spills
Oil leaks can cause internal engine parts to run out of oil and increase friction. If there is a lot of oil leakage, the vehicle will vibrate more frequently due to internal stress and high oil pressure.
So, after changing the oil you see the car shaking and you check the engine light. If you do not close the dipstick properly or install the oil filter cap backwards, the indicator light may also off after the oil change.
A common symptom of an oil leak is the presence of grease under the car. In this time, look for loose pipes and broken seals.
To solve the problem of oil leakage and vehicle vibration, Keep the seal tight or replace the broken part. The paper and plug may break and the seal many wears over time.
Low Quality Engine Oil
Using low-quality oil or low-quality mixture can reduce the lubrication of the piston rings. If the piston is bent, the engine will not run properly. As a result, you may encounter frequent vibrations and shocks.

Low coolant levels are a leading cause of engine failure. So, to keep your vehicle running smoothly and efficiently, use the right type of oil and avoid using too much oil.
High Oil Level
If you have had your engine oil changed recently and have experience with your vehicle, a complete overhaul may be a liability. Therefore, the crankcase may reach a high oil level, causing the engine to become misaligned.
If the level is too high, the oil may not breath properly. Your vehicle can hold approximately 4/5ths of fuel depending on the number of cylinder and you fill need to refuel between the maximum marks. So, your car’s capacity may be one-fourth.

Installing the Oil Filter
Improper installation or looseness of the oil filter may cause vibration and vibration in the engine.
Is it Safe to Drive my Car If the Engine is Shaking?
No, it is generally not a good idea to ride your vehicle when it is shaking. While a slight vibration may be normal at a certain speed due to the engine spinning, excessive vibration is a warning sign that something is wrong and could lead to damage or an accident.
